Placements24 is seeking a Senior Immunologist in Soweto to lead immune research efforts focused on disease mechanisms, including infectious diseases and autoimmunity. The role demands designing, executing, and interpreting advanced immunology experiments with flow cytometry, ELISA, and cell-based assays.

The candidate will mentor junior researchers, collaborate with clinicians, analyze large datasets, and contribute to publications.

Qualifications

• PhD in Immunology, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of postdoctoral research experience.
• Extensive hands-on immunology techniques incl. flow cytometry and cell-based assays.
• Strong knowledge of immune cell biology and molecular mechanisms.
• Proficiency in data analysis using relevant software.
• Proven track record of independent research and publications.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Commitment to on-site work in Soweto.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and interpret complex immunological experiments using flow cytometry, ELISA, Western blotting, and cell-based assays.
• Investigate immune cell populations, cytokine profiles, and signaling in disease models.
• Develop and validate novel assays for immune function assessment.
• Manage laboratory equipment and safety protocols.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary researchers and clinicians.
• Analyze large datasets with statistical software and bioinformatics tools.
• Contribute to manuscript preparation and dissemination of findings.
• Mentor junior researchers and staff.
• Stay updated with advancements in immunology and technologies.
• Assist in grant writing and funding opportunities.
