Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Research Scientist specializing in Immunology to join our Durban, KwaZulu-Natal facility. The role focuses on understanding and modulating immune responses for therapeutic purposes, with hands-on leadership in experimental design and data analysis.

The ideal candidate has a PhD in Immunology or related field and at least 6 years of post-doctoral or industry experience, with extensive experience in flow cytometry, ELISA/ELISpot, and cell isolation techniques.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Immunology, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, or related discipline.
• Minimum 6 years of post-doctoral or relevant industry experience in immunology research.
• Hands-on experience with ELISA, ELISpot, western blotting, and immunohistochemistry.
• Proficiency in flow cytometry panel design and data analysis.
• Experience with primary human and animal immune cell isolation and culture.

Responsibilities

• Design, execute, and interpret complex immunology experiments, including cell-based assays, flow cytometry, cytokine profiling, and animal models of disease.
• Develop and validate novel assays for immune cell function and therapeutic efficacy.
• Analyze and present experimental data to research teams, project leaders, and management.
• Contribute to the strategic direction of immunology research programs, identifying new opportunities for therapeutic intervention.
• Troubleshoot experimental issues and optimize protocols to ensure data integrity and reproducibility.
• Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including discovery, preclinical, and clinical development.
• Maintain detailed laboratory notebooks and contribute to the preparation of scientific reports, manuscripts, and presentations.
• Ensure adherence to all laboratory safety standards and regulatory guidelines.
