Job summary

Amazon Data Services South Africa (Pty) Ltd in Cape Town is seeking a Data Center HV/MV Specialist Engineer to oversee high and medium voltage electrical and mechanical systems, ensuring peak efficiency and compliance.

You will lead preventative maintenance, corrective actions, and complex projects, collaborating with onsite teams and external vendors across the MEA region, while delivering on milestones and cost control.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience taking concepts through exploration, development, and deployment or mass production.
• Experience in project management and coordinating with multiple stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day operations and maintenance of medium and high voltage infrastructure.
• Operate independently with limited direct management.
• Assist design and build-out of new MV/HV facility infrastructure.
• Act as escalation point for facilities issues and support site stability.
• Perform root cause analysis of MV/HV equipment failures.
• Create and deploy new standard practices for EOTs and engineers.
• Provide training and guidance to EOTs and assist in recruiting.
• Ensure safety procedures are followed by vendors and staff.
• Manage building workflows using Change Management Systems.
• MV/HV isolation to facilitate maintenance.
• Provide weekly metric availability reporting.
• Support all MEA regions.
