Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Manager to lead HSE strategy across major energy and infrastructure projects in the North West region. The role focuses on implementing robust HSE programs, driving compliance, and fostering a strong safety culture.

The ideal candidate will have 8+ years in HSE leadership, extensive knowledge of SA legislation, and professional certifications (NEBOSH/SAMTRAC).

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety or related field.
• NEBOSH or SAMTRAC certification preferred.
• Proven experience in HSE management in energy/industrial sectors.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement and manage HSE policies for all project sites.
• Conduct site inspections and audits to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Lead and mentor the HSE team to achieve targets.
• Investigate incidents and near-misses; determine root causes and actions.
• Deliver HSE training programs to staff and contractors.
• Manage environmental impact assessments and regulatory permits.
• Engage regulators, clients and stakeholders on HSE matters.
• Promote proactive safety culture and hazard reporting across projects.
• Maintain HSE performance records and reporting to senior management.
