Job summary

Placements24 is assisting a major bulk commodity transport company in Rustenburg, North West, to recruit an experienced Heavy Goods Vehicle driver. The role focuses on long-haul and regional transport, with an emphasis on safety, load handling, and timely deliveries across industrial sites.

The successful candidate will have at least five years of verifiable HGV experience, a Code 14 (EC1) license with PrDP, and a strong track record of safe driving.

Qualifications

• Valid Code 14 (EC1) driver''s license with a PrDP.
• Minimum of 5 years of verifiable professional driving experience with HGVs.
• Proven safe driving record with no major endorsements.
• Experience operating HGV types such as tankers or flatbeds.
• Thorough knowledge of national road regulations and safety practices for large vehicles.
• Familiarity with the Rustenburg, North West road network and surrounding industrial areas.
• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks and assist with load checks.

Responsibilities

• Operate Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGVs) safely and efficiently for bulk transport.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections and report defects.
• Adhere to traffic laws, regulations, and company policies for road transport.
• Ensure proper loading/unloading and secure cargo to prevent shifting.
• Maintain accurate logs, delivery manifests, and fuel records.
• Plan and execute efficient routes considering traffic and delivery windows.
• Communicate with dispatch and clients regarding status and delays.
• Maintain cleanliness and basic maintenance of the HGV.
• Respond professionally to customer inquiries during deliveries.
