Job summary

Boardroom Appointments seeks a Senior HEC Network Operations Engineer in Pretoria to ensure the stability, performance and security of the HEC network across environments. You will lead a team of engineers, perform and guide lifecycle, change, incident and problem management, and coordinate with compute, storage and applications teams to deliver reliable services.

Qualifications

• 6–8 years in a senior network engineer role, with at least 3 years in data center environments.
• Proven ability to lead a team of engineers and resolve complex infrastructure issues.
• Strong change management practice with risk assessment and mitigation.
• Experience ensuring security posture across systems and networks.
• ITIL knowledge and certification are highly desirable.
• Customer-facing engineering experience is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Ensure stability, performance, and security of the HEC network.
• Lead tasks related to Service Requests, Incident Management, and RCA.
• Guide lifecycle management and change management activities.
• Drive root cause analysis and problem management efforts.
• Mentor and guide other support staff.
• Collaborate with compute, storage, and applications teams.
• Maintain high-quality documentation and participate in reviews.
• Contribute to architecture, design reviews, and optimization.

Senior HEC Network Operations Engineer

MinimumRequirements:

• Minimum 6-8 years relevant experience in a senior network engineer role, at least 3 years in data center environments

Technical Skills

• Ability to solve complex infrastructure issues, together with senior engineers of other technical domains
• Ability to lead a team of other engineers
• Ability to ensure high quality of submitted change requests and associated implementations of complex changes
• Implementation including associated risk assessments and mitigation strategies.
• Working on monitoring/orchestrator tools
• Knowledge of security aspects on systems

Other Skills

• Profound ITIL knowledge, ability to guide/coach others
• ITIL certification/s
• experience in a customer-facing engineering role

Responsibilities:

• Ensure stability, performance, and security of the HEC network
• Perform and lead tasks associated with Service Requests and Incident Management Processes.
• Perform and lead lifecycle management/change management activities
• Perform and lead root cause analysis (RCA) and Problem management activities.
• Guide other support staff in performing their tasks
• Work with senior engineers from other domains (e.g. compute, storage, applications)
• Ensure a high level of quality of documentation.
• Contribute to service, architecture, and/or design reviews and optimization activities
• Represent the Network team toward external customers and/or internal LoBs and/or vendors
