About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly qualified Senior Grid Integration Engineer to join their team in Klerksdorp . This role is integral to the secure and efficient connection of new energy resources, particularly renewables, to the national grid. You will be responsible for technical studies, system analysis, and the development of interconnection standards and methodologies. This position requires a deep understanding of power system dynamics, grid codes, and regulatory frameworks within the South African context. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in shaping the future of energy infrastructure, ensuring stability and reliability as the grid evolves with cleaner energy sources.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive power system studies, including load flow, short-circuit, transient stability, and harmonic analysis, for grid interconnections.
• Develop and review grid connection applications and technical requirements for renewable energy projects and other generation facilities.
• Ensure compliance with relevant grid codes , standards, and NERSA regulations.
• Collaborate with internal engineering teams, project developers, and grid operators to facilitate seamless interconnections.
• Analyze grid performance and identify potential issues related to the integration of distributed and variable energy resources.
• Contribute to the development of methodologies and tools for grid impact assessments and planning.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, with a specialization in Power Systems.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in power system analysis and grid integration, preferably within a utility or large-scale energy environment.
• Strong knowledge of power system dynamics , protection, and control principles.
• Proficiency in power system simulation software such as PSS/E, PowerFactory DIgSILENT, or similar.
• Understanding of South African grid codes and regulatory requirements.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
