About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly accomplished Senior Electrical Engineer with specialized expertise in Grid Integration for a fully remote position. You will be a key contributor to projects involving the connection of renewable energy sources and other distributed energy resources to the national grid. This role requires a deep understanding of grid codes, power system stability, and protection schemes. You will lead complex technical analyses and provide strategic guidance to ensure seamless and reliable grid integration from your remote work location in South Africa .

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the technical assessment and design for grid connection of renewable energy projects.
• Develop and review grid interconnection studies, including stability, fault level, and protection coordination studies.
• Ensure compliance with utility grid codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with grid operators, clients, and internal engineering teams to resolve integration challenges.
• Provide expert technical guidance on power system protection, control, and automation for grid-connected assets.
• Contribute to the development of best practices and standards for grid integration engineering.

Requirements

• Master's degree or PhD in Electrical Power Engineering.
• 8+ years of experience in grid integration, power system analysis, or related field.
• Expertise in grid codes, interconnection standards, and regulatory frameworks .
• Proficiency with advanced power system simulation software (e.g., PSCAD, EMTP-RV, PowerFactory DIgSILENT).
• Strong knowledge of protection relaying, control systems, and power system stability concepts.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills for effective remote collaboration.
