Placements24 seeks a Senior Operations Manager to lead a gold processing plant in Sandton, Gauteng. You will drive production, safety, and efficiency across milling, leaching, CIL, smelting, and refining with strategic oversight and continuous improvement.

The role requires a strong metallurgical background, 10+ years in metallurgy operations, and proven leadership. Based in Sandton with opportunity for strategic impact within a major mining group.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, or Mining Engineering.
• Master's degree is advantageous.
• Minimum of 10 years of progressive operations management experience in gold processing.
• Proven track record of leading large metallurgical processing plants.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day operations of the gold processing plant to meet production targets.
• Develop and implement strategies for optimizing plant efficiency, recovery, and cost.
• Ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations in mining.
• Lead and mentor a large team of supervisors, metallurgists, engineers, and operators.
• Drive continuous improvement using Lean or Six Sigma methodologies.
• Oversee maintenance and capital project planning and execution.
• Manage the plant budget and financial objectives.
• Collaborate with mine operations, procurement, and corporate functions.
• Report plant performance and initiatives to senior management.
• Foster a culture of safety, quality, and high performance.
