Placements24 is seeking a Senior Metallurgist to lead mineral processing operations near Sandton. The role focuses on optimizing extraction and recovery of minerals from ore, ensuring efficiency, cost-effectiveness and environmental responsibility.

You will direct processing plant operations, troubleshoot issues, and implement innovative solutions to improve recovery rates and product quality, contributing to a major mining entity's success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in mineral processing with focus on metallurgy.
• Proven expertise in the metallurgical aspects of base metals or precious metals processing.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and optimize all aspects of the mineral processing plant, including crushing, grinding, flotation, and leaching circuits.
• Develop and implement strategies to maximize metal recovery and minimize processing costs.
• Conduct metallurgical test work and analyze results to improve process performance.
• Troubleshoot operational problems and provide technical solutions to plant personnel.
• Ensure all processing activities comply with environmental regulations and safety standards.
• Manage laboratory operations and ensure quality control of reagents and final products.
• Mentor junior metallurgists and plant operators, fostering technical expertise.
