Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Geothermal Energy Engineer in Mossel Bay, Western Cape. The role combines on-site collaboration with remote work, overseeing design, development and optimization of geothermal systems from exploration to power plant construction.

You will conduct reservoir studies, evaluate resources, forecast production, and design turbine and plant components while mentoring junior staff and managing project plans.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Petroleum Engineering, or related field.
• Master's degree is preferred.
• Minimum of 7 years of geothermal energy engineering experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering design and technical assessment of geothermal projects.
• Conduct reservoir studies, resource evaluation and production forecasting.
• Design geothermal power plant components including turbines and heat exchangers.
• Oversee drilling operations and well testing programs.
• Develop project execution plans, schedules and budgets.
• Ensure compliance with engineering standards, safety and environmental rules.
• Mentor junior staff and monitor project progress with risk mitigation.
• Collaborate with geologists and specialists to characterize resources.
