Placements24 is seeking a Senior Geothermal Energy Engineer in Mossel Bay, Western Cape. The role combines on-site collaboration with remote work, overseeing design, development and optimization of geothermal systems from exploration to power plant construction.

You will conduct reservoir studies, evaluate resources, forecast production, and design turbine and plant components while mentoring junior staff and managing project plans.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Petroleum Engineering, or related field.
• Master's degree is preferred.
• Minimum of 7 years of geothermal energy engineering experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the engineering design and technical assessment of geothermal resource exploration and development projects.


• Conduct reservoir engineering studies, including resource evaluation, well performance analysis, and production forecasting.


• Design and specify geothermal power plant components, including turbines, heat exchangers, and associated balance-of-plant systems.


• Oversee the planning and execution of drilling operations and well testing programs.


• Develop project execution plans, schedules, and budgets for geothermal energy initiatives.


• Ensure compliance with all relevant engineering standards, safety regulations, and environmental requirements.


• Collaborate with geologists, geophysicists, and other specialists to characterize geothermal resources.


• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineering staff.

Requirements
