Placements24 in Sandton, Gauteng, seeks an experienced Geotechnical Engineer to lead site investigations, analyze soil and rock properties, and provide recommendations for foundations, slope stability and earthworks across construction projects.

You will collaborate with civil, structural engineers and project managers to ensure ground-related safety and performance. The role offers a hybrid work setting in Gauteng and opportunities to lead complex geotechnical assignments.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of progressive geotechnical experience.
• Experience in planning and executing site investigations and data interpretation.
• Proficiency in geotechnical analysis software (Plaxis, GeoStudio, SLOPE/W).
• Strong understanding of soil and rock mechanics and foundation engineering.
• Knowledge of South African standards and codes of practice.
• Professional registration with ECSA as Pr Eng or Pr Tech Eng is essential.
• Ability to work in a hybrid work setting on Gauteng projects.

Responsibilities

• Plan and manage geotechnical site investigations.
• Analyze soil and rock properties from tests and field data.
• Perform foundation, retaining walls, and slope stability design calculations.
• Prepare geotechnical investigation reports and design recommendations.
• Provide geotechnical input for civil and structural design teams.
• Coordinate with clients, contractors and regulators on geotechnical matters.
• Oversee earthworks, foundations and ground improvement activities.
• Review contractor submissions, including method statements and QC plans.
• Stay updated on geotechnical engineering principles and software.
