About the Role

Our client, a leading engineering consultancy specializing in mining and infrastructure projects, is seeking an experienced Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join their team in Benoni, Gauteng . This challenging role involves leading and executing complex geotechnical investigations, analyses, and designs for a variety of projects, including mine infrastructure, dams, tunnels, and foundations. You will be responsible for assessing ground conditions, advising on stability, and developing practical engineering solutions to mitigate geotechnical risks. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of soil mechanics, rock mechanics, and field investigation techniques, coupled with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage geotechnical investigation programs, including site reconnaissance, drilling, and in-situ testing.
• Perform detailed geotechnical analyses for foundations, slopes, excavations, and underground structures.

• Prepare comprehensive geotechnical reports, including findings, interpretations, and design parameters.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
• Professional Engineer (Pr.Eng.) registration with ECSA is essential.
• A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in geotechnical engineering, with a focus on mining and infrastructure projects.
• Demonstrated experience in managing and delivering complex geotechnical investigations and designs.
• Expertise in numerical modeling software for geotechnical analysis (e.g., Plaxis, FLAC).
• Thorough knowledge of soil and rock mechanics principles and their application.
• Experience with various field investigation techniques and laboratory testing.
• Strong report writing and presentation skills.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Ability to work effectively independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Willingness to undertake site visits, which may involve working in remote or challenging conditions in and around Gauteng .
