Placements24 is seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer for its Port Elizabeth office to lead investigations, analyses and designs for major infrastructure and mining projects in the Eastern Cape. You will manage project teams, ensure design integrity and maintain client relationships while guiding junior engineers.

The role emphasizes advanced geotechnical analysis, foundation design for heavy structures, and ground improvement, with travel to project sites as required.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of geotechnical engineering experience, infrastructure/mining focus
• Strong background in complex geotechnical analysis and design
• Experience managing projects and leading design teams
• Excellent report writing and communication skills
• Willingness to travel to project sites as needed

Responsabilités

• Lead geotechnical investigation and design phases for major infrastructure and mining projects
• Perform advanced geotechnical analyses (slope stability, bearing capacity, settlement, seepage, seismic)
• Develop detailed geotechnical designs for foundations, earth retaining structures, ground improvement
• Prepare geotechnical investigation and design reports, specs, and tender docs
• Oversee field investigations including drilling, sampling, testing
• Provide mentorship to junior geotechnical engineers and technicians
• Manage project scopes, schedules and budgets
• Ensure designs comply with SANS and best practices
• Liaise with clients, contractors and stakeholders
• Conduct peer reviews of designs and reports
• Advise on construction methods and provide site support
