Placements24 is seeking a highly skilled Senior Geotechnical Engineer to oversee coastal development projects in Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal. You will conduct site investigations, analyze soil conditions, and provide expert recommendations for foundations and earthworks to ensure stability and safety of infrastructure along the coast.

The role requires a MSc or B.Eng in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering with a minimum of eight years in geotechnical engineering, coastal or marine experience, and

Qualifications

• MSc. or B.Eng in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering.
• Minimum 8 years of geotechnical engineering experience, coastal or marine environments.
• Expertise in soil mechanics, foundation engineering, and site characterization.
• Proficiency in PLAXIS, GeoStudio, or similar software.
• Experience managing geotechnical aspects of large-scale coastal projects in Richards Bay.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute detailed geotechnical investigations, including soil borings, CPTs, and lab testing.
• Analyze soil and rock data to assess site suitability and risks.
• Provide recommendations for foundation design, slope stability, and earth retention systems.
• Prepare geotechnical reports with findings and design parameters.
• Oversee earthworks, foundations, and soil improvement during construction.
• Collaborate with project teams to integrate geotechnical considerations into design and execution.

You will be responsible for conducting comprehensive site investigations, analyzing soil conditions, and providing expert recommendations for foundation designs and earthworks. Your work will directly impact the success and longevity of major infrastructure and construction projects along the coast. The position requires strong analytical skills, practical field experience, and the ability to manage complex geotechnical challenges effectively.

Key Responsibilities
