Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Geoscientist for our Bloemfontein team to interpret subsurface data and build robust geological models. The role focuses on integrating seismic, core, and well data to guide exploration plans and asset evaluation.

The successful candidate will leverage advanced software to deliver actionable insights, support multidisciplinary projects, and mentor junior colleagues while contributing to strategic decisions in a hybrid work setting.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Geophysics, Geology, or related geoscience discipline.
• 8+ years of exploration geoscience experience, preferably Oil & Gas.

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed seismic interpretation to identify structures and traps.
• Integrate well log, core, and seismic data to build subsurface models.
• Conduct basin analysis and play fairway mapping for exploration opportunities.
• Assess exploration risks and potential hydrocarbon volumes.
• Use advanced geophysical software for data processing and analysis.
• Mentor junior geoscientists and share knowledge within the team.
• Provide geological support for well planning and operations.
• Prepare technical reports and presentations for management.
