Placements24 is seeking a Senior Geologist specialized in structural interpretation for operations in Polokwane. The role focuses on analyzing seismic and geological data to map subsurface structures, identify traps, and assess geological risks within the Oil & Gas sector.

You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on exploration and appraisal efforts in a dynamic project environment. The position requires a Master’s or PhD in geosciences, 8+ years of relevant experience, and proficiency

Qualifications

• Master's degree or PhD in Geology, Geophysics, or a related geoscience discipline.
• Over 8 years of experience in structural geology and seismic interpretation within the Oil & Gas industry.
• Proficiency with industry-standard seismic interpretation software (e.g., Petrel, IHS Markit).
• Strong understanding of tectonic settings, basin evolution, and structural deformation processes.
• Proven ability to identify and evaluate complex geological structures.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Interpret complex seismic datasets to map structural elements, faults, and stratigraphic features.
• Perform detailed structural analysis to define potential hydrocarbon traps and assess sealing capacity.
• Integrate geological and geophysical data to build robust subsurface models.
• Evaluate geological risks and uncertainties associated with exploration prospects.
• Contribute to the planning and oversight of geological data acquisition programs.
• Prepare comprehensive technical reports and presentations for internal stakeholders and management.
