Placements24 is seeking a Senior Geologist for a globally recognized mineral exploration leader. This remote-first role focuses on interpreting geological data, building 3D models, and guiding mine planning and resource estimation.

You will work with a distributed team, mentor juniors, ensure safety and regulatory compliance, and stay abreast of geoscience innovations while delivering detailed reports to senior management.

Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in Geology, Economic Geology, or related geoscience field.
• Minimum 10 years progressive experience in mineral exploration and mining geology.
• Proven expertise with geological modeling software (Leapfrog, Vulcan, Micromine).
• Strong understanding of structural geology, stratigraphy, and petrology.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive geological surveys and analyze data from various sources, including core logging, assay results, and geophysical surveys.

• Prepare detailed technical reports, presentations, and recommendations for senior management and stakeholders.
• Collaborate with geophysicists, geochemists, and mining engineers to integrate multidisciplinary data.
• Mentor junior geologists and provide technical guidance to field teams.
• Ensure adherence to safety, environmental, and regulatory standards in all geological activities.
• Stay abreast of the latest advancements in geological techniques and technologies.
• Conduct site visits as required to oversee exploration activities and geological aspects of mining operations.

Requirements

• A Master's degree or PhD in Geology, Economic Geology, or a related geoscience field.
• A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in mineral exploration and mining geology, with a focus on (specific mineral types relevant to the region, e.g., gold, platinum group elements, base metals).
• Demonstrated expertise in geological modeling software (e.g., Leapfrog, Vulcan, Micromine).
• Strong understanding of structural geology, stratigraphy, and petrology relevant to mineral deposits.
• Proven experience in resource estimation and reporting according to international standards (e.g., JORC, NI 43-101).
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly.
• Proficiency in data analysis and statistical software.
• Must be eligible to work remotely within **South Africa**.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote work environment.
