About the Role

Our client, a prominent player in the global mining industry, is seeking a highly experienced and motivated Senior Geologist to join their dynamic exploration team based in Midrand, Gauteng. This is a critical role focused on identifying and evaluating new mineral resource opportunities. You will be instrumental in driving the success of our exploration programmes, contributing significantly to the company's growth and strategic objectives. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of geological principles, advanced exploration techniques, and a proven track record in discovering economically viable mineral deposits. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct detailed geological mapping and sampling in various terrains.
• Interpret geophysical and geochemical data to identify target areas for drilling.
• Plan, supervise, and manage diamond and RC drilling programmes.
• Analyze drill core and assay data to define geological models and estimate resources.
• Prepare comprehensive geological reports, presentations, and resource estimates for management and stakeholders.
• Collaborate with geoscientists, engineers, and other technical specialists to integrate information and optimise exploration strategies.
• Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements in the field.
• Mentor and guide junior geologists, fostering a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence.
• Stay abreast of the latest advancements in geological exploration technologies and methodologies.

Requirements

• A Master's degree or PhD in Geology, Economic Geology, or a related geoscience field.
• A minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in mineral exploration, with a strong focus on base metals or precious metals.
• Demonstrated success in discovering economically significant mineral deposits.
• Proficiency in geological software for data management, modelling, and visualisation (e.g., Leapfrog, ArcGIS, Surpac).
• Excellent understanding of structural geology, stratigraphy, and mineralisation processes relevant to the target commodities.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex geological data sets.
• Proven ability to manage exploration projects from conception to completion, including budget management.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present technical information clearly and concisely.
• Experience working in challenging field conditions and remote locations.
• Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel extensively within South Africa and potentially internationally.
