Job summary

Placements24 in Rustenburg seeks a skilled Geological Engineer to join our team. The role involves conducting geological surveys and analyses to support mining and energy operations on-site.

You will work with mining engineers, geologists, and environmental specialists to assess risks, identify resource potential, and ensure safe, efficient project execution. 5+ years' experience and proficiency with Leapfrog, MinePlan, and GIS are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Geological Engineering, Mining Engineering, or a closely related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in geological engineering, with a focus on mining or energy sectors.
• Proficiency in geological modeling software (Leapfrog, MinePlan) and GIS tools.

Responsibilities

• Conduct geological investigations and site characterization for mining and energy projects.
• Analyze geological data, including core samples, seismic surveys, and borehole logs, to assess resource potential and geological hazards.
• Develop and implement exploration and resource assessment strategies.
• Provide technical expertise on geotechnical aspects, slope stability, and ground support for mining operations.
• Prepare detailed geological reports, maps, and 3D models for internal stakeholders and regulatory submissions.
• Collaborate with mine planning and operations teams to optimize resource extraction and minimize environmental impact.
