Placements24 is seeking a Fleet Operations Manager to lead and optimize our Rustenburg fleet in the North West region. You will manage drivers, maintenance teams, and the end‑to‑end lifecycle of a large vehicle fleet, ensuring safety, efficiency, and cost effectiveness.

The role requires advanced knowledge of SA transport regulations, strong leadership, and hands-on use of fleet management software to drive performance improvements and data‑driven decisions.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of progressive experience in fleet management or transportation operations.
• Experience managing a fleet of 50+ vehicles (heavy‑duty trucks).
• In-depth knowledge of South African transport legislation and compliance requirements.
• Proven leadership and team management capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement strategies for efficient fleet utilization and route optimization.
• Oversee recruitment, training, and performance management of drivers and fleet staff.
• Ensure compliance with national and provincial transportation laws and regulations.
• Manage vehicle acquisition, maintenance schedules, and repair processes to minimize downtime.
• Control fleet-related expenses, including fuel, insurance, and maintenance costs.
• Implement and monitor safety programs for drivers and the public.
• Utilize fleet management software and telematics to track performance and behavior.
• Liaise with internal departments and external service providers.
• Analyze fleet data to identify trends and improvements.
• Maintain accurate records of fleet activities, including maintenance, mileage, and compliance.
