Placements24 is seeking a Senior Aircraft Maintenance Engineer for our client in Pietermaritzburg. The role focuses on ensuring airworthiness, performing complex maintenance on fixed-wing aircraft, interpreting manuals and supervising junior staff to uphold safety standards.

The ideal candidate will hold an AME license (CASA/EASA/FAA or SA-CAA) with at least five years of hands-on experience in fixed-wing maintenance, and strong diagnostic skills across mechanical, electrical, and avionics

Qualifications

• Must hold an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) license or equivalent (CASA/EASA/FAA or SA-CAA).
• Minimum 5 years hands-on fixed-wing aircraft maintenance experience.
• Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills across mechanical, electrical and avionics systems.
• Solid knowledge of aviation regulations and safety management systems (SACAA preferred).
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities, with a proactive approach to safety.

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on fixed-wing aircraft per manufacturer and regulatory standards.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, electrical and avionics systems.
• Conduct pre-flight and post-flight inspections and document findings.
• Interpret maintenance manuals, blueprints and schematics for maintenance procedures.
• Supervise and mentor junior technicians and ensure safety protocols are followed.
• Maintain detailed records of maintenance, parts used and time expended.
• Participate in on-call rotations and respond to AOG situations as required.
