Job summary

Dante Personnel seeks a skilled Finance Leader to take overall responsibility for the company’s finance function in a growing SME environment. You will oversee accounting processes, reconciliations and month-end close, while preparing monthly management and financial reports to inform strategic decisions.

You will drive budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management and financial controls, with strong attention to detail and hands-on involvement in a scaling business.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in finance/accounting is required.
• Solid end-to-end accounting knowledge and controls.
• 5–7 years' progressive finance experience within SME or growing business.

Job description

Minimum requirements:

• Take overall responsibility for the company's finance function
• Manage accounting processes, reconciliations and month-end close
• Prepare and analyse monthly management and financial reports
• Manage budgeting, forecasting and financial planning
• Monitor cash flow, working capital, debtors and creditors
• Ensure strong financial controls and accurate accounting records
• Manage VAT, SARS and statutory financial compliance
• Coordinate annual financial statements and external audits
• Liaise with external accountants, auditors and financial service providers
• Provide financial analysis and advice to senior management and the Board
• Support funding applications, investor reporting, grants and financial due diligence
• Identify financial risks and implement appropriate controls
• Develop and improve finance systems, processes and reporting structures
• Provide commercial insight into revenue, margins, costs, cash flow and business performance
• Support the business as it scales and develops its finance function

• Minimum Requirements

  • BCom Accounting, BCom Financial Accounting,
  • BCom Finance or equivalent qualification.
  • 5–7 years' progressive finance experience.
  • Strong experience managing the full finance function within an SME, entrepreneurial or growing business.
  • Strong end-to-end accounting knowledge.
  • Experience with:
    • Management accounts
    • Month-end processes
    • Reconciliations
    • Budgeting and forecasting
    • Cash flow and working capital
    • Financial controls
    • Financial reporting
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Experience with Xero or a comparable cloud-based accounting system.
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy and financial discipline.

  • CA(SA) or PA(SA).
  • SARS eFiling and VAT201 experience.
  • Experience with audits and annual financial statements.
  • Investor reporting or funding experience.
  • Financial due diligence experience.
  • Experience within a start-up, SME or high-growth environment.
