Our client is a well-established and highly respected insurance organisation with more than a century of industry experience, offering the opportunity to join a stable, established business while gaining valuable exposure across technical accounting, financial reporting, regulatory compliance, risk and financial analysis.

This is an initial 6-month contract with the possibility of going permanent, making it an excellent opportunity for someone looking to secure a long-term position within the insurance industry.

As the Senior Financial Accountant, you will be responsible for professional accounting, financial reporting, analysis and financial control activities. You will play an important role in ensuring accurate reporting, strong financial controls and compliance within the business.

Duties

• Preparing and managing financial reporting, including income statements, balance sheets and cash flow statements.
• Managing accounting activities including journals, ledgers, trial balances and reconciliations.
• Supporting financial management and control within the business.
• Providing specialist advice on financial policies and procedures.
• Ensuring compliance with relevant regulatory and financial requirements.
• Identifying and mitigating financial and operational risks.
• Providing financial modelling input into business cases, costs and growth initiatives.
• Analysing financial data and preparing management reports.
• Investigating discrepancies, resolving issues and identifying errors.
• Engaging with senior management and internal stakeholders.

Experience

• Completed Articles
• 1-2 years' experience in a Senior Accountant/Senior Financial Accountant role.
• 4-6 years' accounting experience within the insurance sector.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS, Income Tax and VAT.
• Experience with fixed asset accounting.
• Strong Excel skills and experience with accounting systems.
• Proven experience in reconciliations, identifying errors and resolving financial issues.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and engage confidently with senior management.
• Comfortable operating within a complex, regulated and dynamic insurance environment.
