Job summary

Salix Recruitment is seeking an experienced Senior Financial Accountant for a well-established insurance organisation in Gauteng, South Africa. The role involves professional accounting, financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and risk analysis within a stable, long-term environment.

You will handle IFRS reporting, tax considerations, and financial controls, with 1-2 years in a senior accountant role and 4-6 years in accounting within insurance.

Qualifications

• Qualified with BCom Accounting and either Honours/CTA or CA(SA).
• Completed articles and 4–6 years accounting experience in insurance.
• Strong IFRS, Income Tax and VAT knowledge.
• Proficient in fixed asset accounting and reconciliations.
• Excellent Excel skills and experience with accounting systems.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and manage financial reporting including income statements, balance sheets and cash flow statements.
• Manage journals, ledgers, trial balances and reconciliations.
• Support financial management and control within the business.
• Provide specialist advice on financial policies and procedures.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory and financial requirements.
• Identify and mitigate financial and operational risks.
• Provide financial modelling input for business cases and growth initiatives.
• Analyse financial data and prepare management reports.
• Investigate discrepancies and resolve issues with senior management.
• Engage with senior management and internal stakeholders.
