Job summary

The Department of Health and Wellness, Western Cape Government, is advertising a permanent financial management post (Reference MHS691/2026) to provide effective support for budget, revenue and expenditure monitoring and financial accounting within the sub-structure. The role also covers HR management and monthly reporting tasks.

Candidates should have a National Diploma (NQF6) or equivalent, PFMA knowledge, supervisory experience, and a valid driver’s licence with willingness to travel.

Qualifications

• Organizational, managerial, leadership skills and an aptitude for working with financial figures.
• Strong people management and supervisory skills, ability to work in a team context and motivate team members.
• Computer literacy in Microsoft Office.
• Knowledge of PFMA, Finance instructions, Provincial and National Treasury regulations, as well as Accounting Officer System.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Effective and efficient support to the ASD to manage the Budgetary Function within the Sub-structure.
• Effective and efficient support to the ASD to manage budget, revenue & expenditure monitoring and control within the Chief Directorate: KESS Sector.
• Effective support to the ASD in Financial accounting, including compliance and risk management within the Chief Directorate: KESS Sector.
• Effective support to the ASD in the management of Human Resources in the component.
• Monthly processing of transfer payments.
• Monthly financial reporting and reconciliation.
• Administer interdepartmental claims.
