Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced and hands-on Farm Manager to oversee mixed agricultural operations in Welkom. The role requires strong leadership and a deep understanding of both crop and livestock management to drive daily productivity and profitability.

You will supervise staff, manage budgets, implement soil health and water management best practices, ensure health, safety and environmental compliance, and promote sustainable farming across the Free State.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years in farm management, mixed operations preferred.
• Strong knowledge of crop science and animal husbandry.
• Experience with farm machinery operation and maintenance.
• Excellent leadership and budgeting skills.

Responsibilities

• Supervise crop production from planting to harvest.
• Oversee livestock management and animal welfare.
• Manage farm staff: hiring, training, scheduling, performance reviews.
• Develop and manage farm budget and control costs.
• Implement soil health, water management and pest control best practices.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental regulations.
