Qualifications

• Master's degree or PhD in Geochemistry, Geology, or a related Earth Science discipline.
• 7+ years of relevant mineral exploration geochemistry experience.
• Proficiency with geochemical data analysis software (ioGAS, Geochemist's Workbench, R).
• Strong multivariate statistics and GIS data analysis knowledge.
• Experience in designing and managing geochemical sampling programs and QA/QC.

About the Role

Our client, a dynamic and resource-rich exploration company, is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Exploration Geochemist to join their globally distributed team. This position is offered on a fully remote basis, allowing you to contribute significantly to our exploration efforts from anywhere within Mossel Bay, Western Cape, ZA. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing geochemical exploration programs aimed at identifying new mineral deposits. You will play a critical role in interpreting complex geochemical data, integrating it with other geological datasets, and generating high-quality targets for drill testing. Key Responsibilities

• Design and oversee comprehensive geochemical exploration surveys, including stream sediment, soil, rock chip, and multielement analysis.
• Manage the collection, storage, and dispatch of geochemical samples, ensuring quality control protocols are rigorously followed.
• Interpret complex geochemical datasets using advanced statistical and spatial analysis techniques.
• Integrate geochemical data with geological mapping, geophysics, and other exploration datasets to generate and rank targets.
• Develop and implement robust quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) procedures for geochemical data.
• Prepare detailed technical reports, presentations, and recommendations for exploration programs.
• Collaborate effectively with geologists, geophysicists, and management teams in a remote setting.
• Stay current with the latest advancements in exploration geochemistry and analytical technologies.
• Provide expert advice on optimal sampling methodologies and analytical strategies for different geological environments.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of Our client’s exploration methodologies and data management systems.

Requirements

• A Master's degree or PhD in Geochemistry, Geology, or a related Earth Science discipline.
• A minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in mineral exploration geochemistry.
• Proven expertise in the interpretation of large geochemical datasets and the generation of exploration targets.
• Proficiency with geochemical data analysis software (e.g., ioGAS, Geochemist's Workbench, R).
• Strong understanding of multivariate statistical analysis and spatial data analysis (GIS).
• Experience in designing and managing geochemical sampling programs and QA/QC protocols.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate complex technical concepts.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage priorities, and deliver results in a remote work environment.
• Must have reliable internet access and a dedicated home office suitable for remote work.
• Ability to be based in or near Mossel Bay, Western Cape, ZA, for occasional team meetings or site visits if required.
