Placements24 seeks a Senior Environmental Engineer to lead EIAs and EMPs for industrial, mining, and infrastructure projects in Upington and the wider Northern Cape. You will coordinate baseline studies, stakeholder engagement, and regulatory compliance to support sustainable development in the region.

The role requires a Master’s in Environmental Engineering or related field, 8+ years in consultancy, and strong reporting and communication abilities. Travel across the Northern Cape is expected.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in environmental consulting, especially EIAs/EMPs.
• Strong analytical, report writing, and communication skills.
• Experience in mining, industrial, or infrastructure sectors.
• Professional registration with a relevant body is desirable (e.g., EAPASA, Pr. Eng).
• Willingness to travel within the Northern Cape and other regions.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the preparation of EIAs and EMPs.
• Conduct baseline studies, ecological surveys, and stakeholder consultations.
• Assess environmental impacts and develop mitigation measures.
• Ensure compliance with environmental legislation (NEMA) and guidelines.
• Provide expert advice on best practices and sustainable development.
• Liaise with regulatory authorities, clients, and project teams.
• Develop and implement environmental monitoring programs.
• Prepare technical reports, proposals, and presentations.
• Mentor junior environmental scientists and engineers.
