Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a qualified Industrial Electrician for our Midrand facility. The role focuses on installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems and machinery to support production.

You will work with control panels, motors, and distribution networks while ensuring adherence to safety standards and SANS regulations. The ideal candidate has a Grade 12 / N3 or equivalent, a valid Wireman's License, and at least 4 years of relevant experience in a manufacturing

Qualifications

• Qualified Electrician with a valid Wireman's License.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience as an Industrial Electrician.
• Strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems, control circuits, PLCs, and variable speed drives.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics.
• Experience with diagnosing electrical faults and performing preventative maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, inspect, and repair electrical equipment including motors, generators, transformers, and control panels.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and manuals to perform tasks.
• Troubleshoot electrical problems using diagnostic equipment and minimize downtime.
• Perform preventative maintenance to ensure optimal performance and prevent failures.
• Ensure compliance with SANS and safety regulations; work with low and high voltage systems.
• Assist in commissioning of new equipment and maintain logs of maintenance activities.
• Participate in on-call rotation for emergency repairs in Midrand.

About the Role

Our client, a key player in the industrial manufacturing sector, is seeking a qualified and experienced Industrial Electrician to join their operations team in Midrand, Gauteng. This role is vital for ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of all electrical systems and equipment within the plant. The Industrial Electrician will be responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing a wide range of electrical machinery, control systems, and power distribution networks. You will work closely with the engineering and maintenance departments to minimize downtime and ensure compliance with all safety regulations and electrical codes. This is a hands‑on position demanding a high level of technical skill and attention to detail, essential for supporting the production processes in the Midrand, Gauteng facility.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, inspect, and repair electrical equipment, including motors, generators, transformers, control panels, and lighting systems.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals to perform installation and repair tasks.
• Troubleshoot electrical problems using diagnostic equipment and implement effective solutions to minimize downtime.
• Perform preventative maintenance on electrical systems to ensure optimal performance and prevent failures.
• Ensure all electrical installations and repairs comply with the South African National Standards (SANS) and other relevant safety regulations.
• Work with low and high voltage systems within an industrial environment.
• Assist in the commissioning of new equipment and electrical systems.
• Maintain accurate logs of all maintenance and repair activities, including parts used and time spent.
• Adhere to strict health and safety protocols, ensuring a safe working environment for yourself and colleagues.
• Participate in on‑call rotation as required for emergency electrical repairs in the Midrand, Gauteng area.

Requirements

• Qualified Electrician with a valid Wireman's License (e.g., Grade 12, N3, or equivalent trade qualification).
• Minimum of 4 years of experience as an Industrial Electrician, preferably in a manufacturing or production environment.
• Strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems, control circuits, PLCs, and variable speed drives.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical drawings, schematics, and specifications.
• Experience with diagnostic tools and equipment for electrical troubleshooting.
• Thorough understanding of electrical safety procedures and regulations.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good communication skills and attention to detail.
• Willingness to work shifts and be part of an on‑call roster.
• Must be physically fit and able to work in various industrial settings.
