Placements24 is seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Services Engineer to join our Richards Bay team. You will lead electrical design for building services, mentor junior engineers, and ensure technical excellence across project lifecycles in industrial, commercial and infrastructure projects.

About the Role

Our client, a leading engineering consultancy firm, is seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Services Engineer to join their growing team in Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal. This role is pivotal in delivering high-quality electrical design solutions for a diverse portfolio of projects, including industrial facilities, commercial buildings, and infrastructure developments. You will be responsible for leading design efforts, mentoring junior engineers, and ensuring technical excellence throughout project lifecycles. The ideal candidate possesses a strong understanding of electrical building services, power distribution, lighting design, and regulatory compliance. We are looking for a proactive and client-focused engineer who can contribute to the firm's reputation for innovation and reliability in Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the electrical design for building services, including power distribution, lighting, emergency power systems, and ELV systems.
• Develop detailed design documentation, drawings, specifications, and calculations.
• Conduct site surveys, feasibility studies, and technical assessments.
• Ensure designs comply with SANS, electrical regulations, and other relevant building codes.
• Manage electrical engineering aspects of projects from concept to completion.
• Liaise with clients, architects, project managers, and other consultants.
• Provide technical guidance and supervision to junior engineers and technicians.
• Review shop drawings, submittals, and respond to site queries during construction.
• Contribute to business development and tender preparation activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in electrical consulting or building services engineering.
• Proficiency in electrical design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit MEP, DIALux).
• Extensive knowledge of low and medium voltage distribution systems, power factor correction, and earthing.
• Experience with lighting design and control systems.
• Familiarity with generator systems and UPS applications.
• Excellent project management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to lead and mentor a team effectively.
• Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng.) designation is highly desirable.
• Experience working in Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal or similar industrial/port environments is a plus.
