Placements24 in South Africa seeks a Senior Electrical Maintenance Technician to join our client’s industrial operations in Klerksdorp, North West. The role combines on-site maintenance with planning from a flexible location, offering a hybrid work arrangement.

You will diagnose, repair and maintain high/low voltage equipment, mentor junior technicians and ensure safety compliance across all activities. A Trade Test electrical qualification and 5+ years’ experience are required.

Qualifications

• Qualified Electrician with a relevant Trade Test.
• Minimum 5 years post-qualification experience in industrial electrical maintenance.
• Experience with high and low voltage systems, motor control, PLCs and VSDs.
• Strong understanding of electrical safety procedures, including lockout/tagout.
• Ability to read and interpret complex electrical drawings and schematics.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on electrical equipment including motors, generators, transformers, switchgear, and control panels.
• Diagnose electrical faults and breakdowns using advanced diagnostic tools and techniques.
• Execute complex electrical repairs and installations meeting industry standards.
• Implement and manage preventative maintenance programs to minimise downtime.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior technicians.

Requirements

• Proven experience with high and low voltage systems, motor control, PLCs, and VSDs.
• Strong understanding of electrical safety procedures, including lockout/tagout.
• Ability to read and interpret complex electrical drawings and schematics.
• Proficiency in using electrical testing equipment and diagnostic tools.
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication and teamwork abilities.
• Willingness to work Hybrid, with flexibility for on-site presence in Klerksdorp, North West as needed.
• Valid driver's license.
