Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Electrical Hardware Engineer for their R&D facility in Polokwane, Limpopo, ZA. This on-site role leads the design, development, and testing of next-generation electronic hardware, owning complex circuit designs, BOMs, and board layouts to ensure performance and manufacturability.

You will collaborate with firmware and manufacturing teams, perform simulations, select components, and stay ahead of trends in power electronics and high-speed digital interfaces.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 7+ years of experience in electrical hardware design.
• Experience with DO-254 or similar safety-critical design standards is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop high-performance analog and digital circuits for new electronic products.
• Create schematics, BOMs, and PCB layouts using industry-standard EDA tools.
• Select components based on performance, cost and reliability.
• Perform circuit simulations and analysis to predict performance.
• Build, test, and debug prototype hardware.
• Collaborate with firmware engineers for HW-SW integration.
• Ensure design for manufacturability and testability.
• Document design specifications and test results.
• Stay updated on latest trends in electronic hardware design.
