Job summary

Valterra Platinum Limited is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer/Energy Manager to lead electrical safety, energy efficiency and project execution within its Smelting Operations in South Africa. The role requires extensive experience in power systems, energy management, and leadership across maintenance and operations teams.

You will interface with EPCMs, manage Eskom-related programs, and drive energy efficiency initiatives while supporting engineering specialists and senior foremen.

Qualifications

• BTech/BSc/BEng in Electrical Engineering (Heavy Current).
• GCC Factories beneficial.
• ECSA registration as a Professional Electrical Engineer or equivalent.
• Post-graduate degree in Electrical Engineering beneficial.
• Project management qualification beneficial.
• Advanced Management Programme or AMP beneficial.
• Certified Energy Manager (CEM) beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Electrical safety and safe execution of electrical work.
• Energy efficiency strategy management programmes across electrical, hydrocarbon, PV and steam.
• Interface with EPCMs and consultants for technical correctness and efficiency.
• Baseline, monitor and audit energy consumption for improvement.
• Regulate ETAP fault level, load flow and protection models.
• Asset management culture and continuous improvement.
• Coordinate Eskom load curtailment and energy reporting.
• Provide managerial advice to Engineering Specialists and Senior Foremen.
