Formación

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with a Power Systems focus.
• Minimum 7 years of electrical infrastructure design experience.
• Proficient with AutoCAD Electrical, ETAP and PSS/E.
• Knowledge of MV/HV distribution, switchgear and protection relays.
• Experience with renewable energy integration is a plus.

About the Role

Our client, a prominent engineering firm focused on infrastructure development, is seeking an accomplished Senior Electrical Design Engineer to contribute to their projects in the Randburg area. This role is critical for the design and development of robust electrical infrastructure solutions for utilities, commercial developments, and industrial facilities. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in power distribution, substations, and electrical system design, coupled with a strong understanding of regulatory compliance and project lifecycle management. This is a hybrid role, offering the flexibility of remote work alongside essential on-site collaboration and client engagement. You will be instrumental in delivering high-quality, sustainable, and efficient electrical infrastructure solutions, reinforcing our client's leadership position in the market.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the electrical design of power distribution networks, substations, and associated infrastructure projects.
• Develop detailed electrical designs, including schematics, single-line diagrams, equipment specifications, and calculations.
• Perform power system studies such as load flow, short circuit, and protection coordination analysis.
• Ensure designs comply with national and international standards, codes, and client-specific requirements.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams, including civil, mechanical, and structural engineers.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and designers.
• Manage design interfaces and coordinate with utility providers and regulatory authorities.
• Conduct site assessments, feasibility studies, and support during construction and commissioning phases.
• Prepare technical reports, proposals, and presentations for clients and stakeholders.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, with a specialization in Power Systems.
• A minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in electrical infrastructure design.
• Proficiency in electrical design and power system analysis software (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, ETAP, PSS/E).
• In-depth knowledge of MV/HV distribution systems, switchgear, transformers, and protection relays.
• Experience with renewable energy integration and smart grid technologies is a plus.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• Ability to work effectively in a hybrid model, balancing remote and on-site responsibilities.
• Professional registration (Pr. Eng.) with ECSA is highly desirable.
