Job summary

AMC Consultants seeks a Senior Electrical, Control and Instrumentation Engineer to join our Underground Mining team in South Africa. You will design EC&I systems for underground projects, lead multi-disciplinary efforts, and deliver from scoping through feasibility and site implementation.

You will mentor junior engineers, manage client interfaces, and contribute to proposals while ensuring adherence to standards and HSE requirements.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering (BEng, BSc or equivalent).
• 9-15 years of practical EC&I experience.
• Experience in MV/LV distribution, control systems, and instrumentation design.
• Experience in brownfields and greenfields projects.
• Experience in vendor evaluation, cost estimation, FAT/SAT and commissioning support.
• Knowledge of relevant national and international standards.
• Strong report writing and communication skills.
• Proficiency with engineering software (ETAP desirable).

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior EC&I Engineer to join our Underground Mining team in South Africa. In this role, you will support the delivery of complex mining projects, primarily focused on underground mining infrastructure. You will be responsible for designing electrical, control, and instrumentation systems and delivering high-quality engineering solutions from scoping through to feasibility and site implementation. You will play a key role in ensuring efficient project delivery, maintaining strong client relationships, and contributing to business development initiatives.

Qualifications And Experience

• A degree in Electrical Engineering (BEng, BSc or equivalent)
• A minimum of 9-15 years of practical experience as relevant to the responsibilities listed above.
• Experience in designing EC&I systems, including medium and low voltage (MV & LV) electrical distribution systems, control systems and instrumentation design, schematics, connection diagrams, and layouts.
• Strong experience in engineering studies (concept to feasibility)
• Experience in both brownfields and Greenfields projects
• Experience in technical specifications and scope development, vendor evaluation and cost estimation, FAT/SAT and commissioning support, project management and delivery
• Knowledge of relevant national and international standards and regulations
• Strong report writing and communication skills
• Proficiency in engineering software (ETAP experience desirable)
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage projects
