Position: Senior Electrical, Control and Instrumentation Engineer

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior EC&I Engineer to join our Mining and Mineral Procesing team in South Africa. In this role, you will support the delivery of complex mining projects, primarily focused on underground/open pit mining, minerals processing plant and related infrastructure. You will be responsible for designing electrical, control, and instrumentation systems and delivering high-quality engineering solutions from scoping through to feasibility and site implementation. You will play a key role in ensuring efficient project delivery, maintaining strong client relationships, and contributing to business development initiatives

Skills And Competencies

Core functions

• Design electrical, control, and instrumentation (EC&I) systems for underground/open pit mining and minerals processing operations
• Lead and deliver projects from concept through to feasibility and execution
• Act as Project Manager or technical lead where required
• Prepare detailed technical reports and engineering documentation
• Develop electrical distribution systems (MV and LV), schematics, and layouts
• Develop alternative renewable energy and emergency backup power generation systems
• Review and evaluate vendor proposals and technical specifications
• Support cost estimation, commissioning, and project delivery
• Conduct peer reviews and provide technical leadership
• Mentor and support junior engineers and team members
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated solutions
• Build and maintain strong client relationships

Qualifications And Experience

• A degree in Electrical Engineering (BEng, BSc or equivalent)
• A minimum of 9-15 years of practical experience as relevant to the responsibilities listed above.
• Experience in designing EC&I systems, including medium and low voltage (MV & LV) electrical distribution systems, control systems and instrumentation design, schematics, connection diagrams, and layouts.
• Strong experience in engineering studies (concept to feasibility)
• Experience in both brownfields and Greenfields projects
• Experience in technical specifications and scope development, vendor evaluation and cost estimation, FAT/SAT and commissioning support, project management and delivery
• Knowledge of relevant national and international standards and regulations
• Strong report writing and communication skills
• Proficiency in engineering software (ETAP experience desirable)
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage projects
