Job summary

AMC Consultants (now part of AFRY) is seeking a Senior Electrical, Control and Instrumentation Engineer to join its Underground Mining team in South Africa. You will design EC&I systems, lead projects end-to-end, and ensure delivery from scoping through to site implementation.

You will mentor engineers, engage with stakeholders, review vendor specs, and contribute to business development while maintaining high standards of safety and quality.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering (BEng, BSc or equivalent).
• 9–15 years of practical EC&I experience.
• Experience designing MV/LV distribution, control and instrumentation systems.
• Experience in brownfield and greenfield projects.
• Knowledge of relevant standards and regulations.
• Strong report writing and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design EC&I systems for underground mining operations.
• Lead projects from concept through feasibility and execution.
• Act as Project Manager or technical lead as required.
• Prepare detailed technical reports and drawings.
• Develop MV/LV electrical distribution, schematics and layouts.
• Review vendor proposals and specifications.
• Support cost estimation, commissioning and delivery.
• Mentor junior engineers and collaborate with teams.
• Build and maintain client relationships and proposals.
• Ensure compliance with company standards and HSE procedures.
