Job summary

Placements24 seeks a strategic Head of Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) to lead EHS initiatives across the Eastern Cape with a hybrid work model. This senior role demands a visionary leader to ensure regulatory compliance and a strong safety culture.

You will oversee safety, health, environment, and emergency preparedness, mentor the EHS team, and embed EHS into business decisions across operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in EHS management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
• Proven track record of developing and implementing successful EHS programs in complex organizations.
• In-depth knowledge of EHS regulations, standards, and best practices.
• Strong leadership, strategic planning, and change management skills.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation abilities.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain the organization's overall Environmental, Health, and Safety strategy and programs.
• Ensure compliance with all local, national, and international EHS regulations and standards.
• Lead and manage the EHS team, providing direction, mentorship, and performance management.
• Conduct EHS audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations, implementing corrective and preventative actions.
• Develop and deliver comprehensive EHS training programs for all levels of employees.
• Collaborate with senior management and department heads to embed EHS principles into all business operations and decision-making processes.
