Placements24 in Midrand, Gauteng, seeks a Senior Environmental Health and Safety Officer to lead EHS programs across sites, ensuring compliance with SA OHS Act, NEMA and industry best practices. This role reports to the Operations Director and involves extensive site-based responsibilities.

You will develop policies, conduct audits, manage incidents, oversee waste operations, deliver training, maintain records, engage with regulators, and drive a culture of safety and environmental stewardship

Formación

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health, Occupational Health and Safety, or related field.
• Minimum 7 years of progressive EHS management experience.
• Strong knowledge of SA OHS Act and NEMA; professional registration advantageous.
• Proven risk assessment, incident investigation and safety management system experience.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills; travel within Gauteng and surrounding areas.

Responsabilidades

• Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive EHS policies and procedures in line with national and international standards and regulations.
• Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety protocols.
• Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, determine root causes, and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Oversee waste management programs, ensuring environmentally sound practices and compliance with waste disposal regulations.
• Develop and deliver EHS training programs for all levels of staff, fostering a strong safety culture.
• Maintain accurate EHS records and prepare regular reports for senior management and regulatory bodies.
• Liaise with external regulatory agencies and stakeholders on EHS matters.
• Manage emergency preparedness and response plans.
• Stay abreast of new legislation, industry trends, and best practices in EHS and recommend necessary updates to policies and procedures.
