Placements24 is seeking a Senior Educational Psychologist for a leading independent school in Centurion, Gauteng, SA.

You will lead the school's psychological services, conduct psycho-educational assessments, provide counseling, and mentor junior staff to support student well-being.

The role requires a Masters/Doctoral in Educational or Clinical Psychology, HPCSA registration, and at least 8 years' post-qualification experience in a school setting.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or Doctoral degree in Educational Psychology or Clinical Psychology with a focus on children/adolescents.
• Registration with HPCSA as an Educational Psychologist.
• Minimum of 8 years post-qualification experience, preferably in a school setting.
• Proven expertise in psycho-educational assessments and interpreting results.
• Strong knowledge of child development, learning theories, and therapeutic modalities.
• Excellent counseling, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated leadership and mentoring capabilities.
• Experience developing psycho-educational programs and workshops.
• Ability to work with diverse populations of students, parents, and educators.
• Commitment to ethical practice and confidentiality.
• Experience within the Gauteng educational system is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive psycho-educational assessments to identify learning disabilities, behavioral challenges, and emotional difficulties.
• Develop and implement individualized intervention plans and support strategies for students.
• Provide individual and group counseling services to students addressing psychological and developmental issues.
• Offer consultation and support to teachers, parents, and school administrators regarding student well-being and learning.
• Develop and deliver workshops and training sessions for staff and parents on relevant psychological topics.
• Collaborate with external professionals and agencies to ensure continuity of care for students.
• Contribute to the development and review of school policies related to student welfare and inclusive education.
• Maintain confidential and accurate records of assessments, interventions, and progress.
• Lead and mentor junior psychologists or interns within the school setting.
• Promote positive mental health and well-being throughout the school community.
