Job summary

Placements24 in Paarl, Western Cape, seeks an Early Childhood Development Specialist to design and implement developmentally appropriate programs for children from birth to five years. You will work hands-on with learners, support parents and teachers, and help create nurturing learning spaces.

The ideal candidate holds a Diploma or Degree in Early Childhood Development, has at least four years of practical experience, and is proficient in observations, assessments, and inclusive practices.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Degree in Early Childhood Development, Education, or a related field.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience working directly with young children in an educational or care setting.
• Strong knowledge of child development theories, milestones, and best practices in early learning.
• Experience in curriculum development and program planning for the early years.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and facilitation skills.
• Ability to conduct developmental assessments and provide constructive feedback.
• Passion for child advocacy and supporting families.
• Proficiency in record-keeping and documentation.
• First Aid and CPR certification is required.
• Understanding of local educational frameworks and policies.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement developmentally appropriate early learning programs and activities for children aged 0-5 years.
• Conduct observations and assessments of children's developmental progress across all domains (cognitive, social, emotional, physical).
• Create a safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environment that encourages exploration and discovery.
• Provide direct support and guidance to children, fostering their social-emotional well-being and learning skills.
• Offer parent education workshops and individual consultations on child development topics.
• Collaborate with and mentor early childhood educators, providing professional development and support.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and best practices in early childhood education.
• Maintain accurate records of children's progress and program outcomes.
• Liaise with external agencies and professionals (e.g., therapists, pediatricians) when necessary.
• Promote a positive and stimulating learning atmosphere within the center.
