Job summary

Placements24 seeks an experienced Logistics & Fleet Operations Manager to lead Durban-based transport activities and drive efficiency across our client’s regional operations.

You will manage fleet maintenance, driver performance, routing optimization, and compliance with safety standards while directing a team of logistics professionals. Durban experience is advantageous and leadership is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Logistics, SCM, or related field.
• 5–7 years in senior logistics or fleet management.
• Experience managing large fleets and complex distribution networks.
• Strong leadership, team management, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in logistics software, TMS, and WMS systems.
• Knowledge of transportation laws and safety regulations.
• Strong analytical and budgeting abilities.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement strategic plans for logistics and fleet operations.
• Oversee the daily operations of the transport department, including dispatch, routing, and scheduling.
• Manage and maintain a diverse fleet of vehicles, ensuring compliance with safety and maintenance standards.
• Lead, train, and motivate a team of drivers and logistics staff.
• Optimize delivery routes and logistics networks to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
• Negotiate contracts with service providers, suppliers, and carriers.
• Ensure adherence to all national and international transportation regulations and safety standards.
• Monitor KPIs and implement corrective actions as needed.
• Manage the logistics budget and financial performance of the department.
• Foster strong relationships with internal departments, clients, and external stakeholders.
