Placements24 is seeking a Senior Drilling Engineer for our client based in George, Western Cape, South Africa. The role focuses on planning, executing, and optimizing drilling operations to ensure safety, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.

You will lead detailed well designs, oversee operations and contracts, mentor junior engineers, and drive improvements through post-well analyses while adhering to strict environmental standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Petroleum or Mechanical Engineering is required.
• At least 6 years of drilling engineering experience in the Oil & Gas sector.
• Knowledge of drilling techniques, equipment, and associated risks.
• Experience with drilling simulation software and well planning tools.
• Ability to manage projects, budgets, and personnel.
• Strong communication and leadership in a demanding field environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed drilling programs, including well design, casing schemes, mud programs, and cementing strategies.
• Oversee the execution of drilling operations, ensuring safety regulations and company policies.
• Manage drilling contracts, equipment, and service providers to optimize efficiency and cost control.
• Conduct post-well analysis to identify lessons learned and implement improvements for future drilling campaigns.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical challenges during drilling operations, providing timely solutions.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance to field personnel, fostering safety and continuous improvement.
