Job summary

Mukuru in Johannesburg is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to lead hands-on efforts building, operating, and improving cloud platforms and delivery pipelines. You will collaborate with Cloud Infra, Security, and Software teams to ensure secure, observable, resilient, and scalable cloud infrastructure for fintech delivery.

The role requires 7+ years in DevOps or related fields, strong AWS experience, Linux production administration, and solid IaC/CI/CD expertise.

Qualifications

7+ years in DevOps, cloud infra, or systems engineering.
Strong experience with AWS; Azure/GCP exposure is a plus.
Solid Linux administration in production environments.
IaC using Terraform and container orchestration with Docker/Kubernetes.
Experience with CI/CD pipelines and monitoring stack (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK).
Configuration management with Ansible, Puppet, or Chef.
Scripting in Python, Bash, or Ruby.

Responsibilities

Build, operate, and improve cloud infrastructure across environments.
Implement and maintain IaC, CI/CD pipelines, and automation.
Monitor, secure, and optimize cloud platforms for performance and recoverability.
Improve monitoring and observability; contribute to incident reviews.
Support redundancy, failover, and disaster recovery per RTOs/RPOs.
Collaborate with security and software teams to apply DevSecOps.
Document architecture and runbooks; evaluate new tools for reliability.
Participate in agile ceremonies and drive continuous improvement.
Pursue ongoing professional development.
