Job Description

Lead the design and delivery of secure cloud platforms and DevSecOps capabilities across the software development lifecycle (SDLC). The role is accountable for establishing production-ready AWS infrastructure, embedding security and quality controls into CI/CD pipelines, and enabling .NET teams to build, test, release, and operate reliable services.

A central responsibility is the containerisation and modernisation of applications onto Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS); proven hands-on EKS delivery experience is mandatory.

The role partners with development, cloud, architecture, operations, and security teams to apply infrastructure as code, observability, vulnerability management, governance, and security-by-design practices at scale.

Key responsibilities will include amongst others the following:
Cloud Infrastructure Engineering and Setup
  • Design, provision, secure, and operate AWS environments from foundation through production. Establish networking, identity and access management, compute, storage, load balancing, DNS, secrets, logging, monitoring, backup, resilience, and cost controls using repeatable infrastructure-as-code patterns.
EKS Containerisation Modernisation
  • Lead the assessment, containerisation, and migration of existing applications to Amazon EKS. Define cluster architecture, namespace and tenancy models, ingress, autoscaling, deployment strategies, policy enforcement, image and runtime security, observability, upgrades, and disaster recovery. Create migration roadmaps that reduce risk and improve reliability without disrupting delivery.
NET Development and SDLC Enablement
  • Apply practical knowledge of C#, .NET, ASP.NET Core, NuGet, build and test tooling, application configuration, and runtime diagnostics to support engineering teams. Embed secure SDLC controls from design and threat modelling through coding, testing, release, deployment, operation, and end-of-life, with clear quality gates and traceability.
Security Automation and CI/CD Leadership
  • Design and maintain secure CI/CD pipelines for .NET and container workloads. Integrate code quality, unit and integration testing, SAST, SCA, secrets detection, container and infrastructure scanning, artefact signing, approval controls, deployment verification, and automated rollback.
Infrastructure as Code and Configuration Management
  • Establish standards for reusable, version-controlled infrastructure modules and secure configuration. Implement automated validation, policy as code, drift detection, peer review, promotion between environments, and auditable change management for cloud and Kubernetes resources.
Vulnerability Management and Remediation
  • Oversee vulnerability discovery, triage, risk-based prioritisation, remediation, exception handling, and reporting across application code, dependencies, container images, EKS clusters, cloud services, and operating environments.
Observability, Reliability, and Incident Response
  • Implement metrics, logs, traces, alerts, service-level indicators, and operational dashboards for cloud, EKS, and .NET services. Lead incident response, root-cause analysis, recovery improvement, capacity planning, and reliability engineering.
Governance, Compliance, and Platform Security
  • Translate security and regulatory obligations into automated guardrails, evidence, and reporting. Maintain secure baselines for AWS, EKS, containers, CI/CD platforms, and .NET workloads, and support internal and external assurance activities.
Delivery Collaboration and Release Planning
  • Work with product, engineering, architecture, security, and operations teams to plan modernisation increments, manage dependencies, define acceptance criteria, and embed security, operability, and recovery requirements into agile release cycles.
Technical Leadership and Continuous Improvement
  • Set engineering standards, review designs and implementation approaches, mentor engineers, and improve platform capabilities using delivery metrics, operational feedback, emerging threats, and lessons from incidents and migrations.
Qualifications and Experience required:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field.
  • Certification in DevSecOps or relevant advanced security certifications.
  • 6+ years of experience in DevOps, cloud or platform engineering, application delivery, or security, including leadership of enterprise DevSecOps or cloud platform initiatives.
  • Must have hands-on experience modernising and containerising applications for Amazon EKS, including production cluster design, workload migration, deployment, security, observability, scaling, and ongoing operations.
  • Strong AWS infrastructure setup experience, including VPC networking, IAM, compute, storage, load balancing, DNS, secrets management, monitoring, resilience, and cost management.
  • Working knowledge of C# and modern .NET development, including ASP.NET Core, NuGet, build and test processes, configuration, diagnostics, and common deployment patterns.
  • Strong understanding of the end-to-end SDLC and experience embedding security, quality, governance, and operational controls at each stage.
  • Extensive experience with CI/CD, Git, infrastructure as code, configuration automation, and scripting using tools and languages such as Terraform or CloudFormation, YAML, Python, PowerShell, or Bash.
  • Strong Docker and Kubernetes engineering knowledge, including networking, ingress, storage, identity, policy, autoscaling, upgrades, workload security, and production troubleshooting.
  • Experience implementing automated security testing, vulnerability management, software supply-chain controls, and monitoring, with the ability to communicate technical risk and delivery trade-offs clearly.
  • Strong technical leadership, architecture judgement, hands-on problem-solving, and risk-management capability.
  • Security-by-design mindset with deep knowledge of cloud, Kubernetes, containers, CI/CD, and software supply-chain risks.
  • Ability to work effectively with .NET developers and translate application needs into secure, operable platform patterns.
  • Strong incident leadership, root-cause analysis, prioritisation, communication, stakeholder management, mentoring, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Relevant AWS, Kubernetes, DevSecOps, or cybersecurity certification is advantageous.
