Placements24 is seeking an experienced Senior Delivery Driver for our George operations in the Western Cape. This hybrid role combines on‑the‑road duties with possible depot‑based administrative tasks and route planning responsibilities.

You will handle high‑value and sensitive goods, ensuring safe transport and professional customer interactions. The ideal candidate has a solid driving record, background in handling fragile or valuable cargo, and a track record of reliability and punctuality.

Qualifications

• Valid Code 10+ driver’s license with a clear driving record.
• Proven experience as a professional driver, with advantage for handling fragile or high‑value goods.
• Excellent knowledge of road networks in and around George and the Western Cape.
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including some Saturdays as needed.
• Experience with Proof of Delivery (POD) systems.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate a variety of delivery vehicles, from light commercials to larger trucks, depending on cargo.
• Transport specialised goods, including high‑value electronics and sensitive documents.
• Load, secure, and unload goods following strict handling procedures.
• Conduct pre‑trip and post‑trip inspections and report maintenance needs.
• Maintain delivery records, logs, and obtain signatures on delivery.
• Provide exceptional customer service during delivery interactions and represent the company professionally.
• Plan and optimize daily delivery routes for efficiency and punctuality.
• Adhere to traffic laws, safety regulations, and company policies.
• Manage time effectively to meet schedules and deadlines.
• Collaborate with dispatch and logistics teams to resolve delivery issues.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure all goods are loaded, secured, and unloaded correctly, adhering to strict handling procedures.

• Maintain accurate delivery records, logs, and obtain necessary signatures upon delivery.
• Provide exceptional customer service during delivery interactions, representing the company professionally.

Requirements

• Valid Code 10 or higher driver's license with a clear driving record.
• Proven experience as a professional driver, with specific experience handling fragile or high-value goods being a significant advantage.
• Excellent knowledge of road networks in and around George and the surrounding Western Cape areas.
• Strong understanding of vehicle maintenance and safety procedures.
• Ability to lift and carry moderately heavy items as required for loading/unloading.
• Demonstrated reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with clients and colleagues.
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule, potentially including some Saturdays, as dictated by operational needs.
• Experience with Proof of Delivery (POD) systems.
