Absa Bank Limited in South Africa seeks a Data Quality and Master Data Management Lead Specialist to strengthen data quality controls, monitor data health, support remediation, and drive improved MDM outcomes across the business. The role focuses on defining rules, monitoring, root cause analysis, and governance engagement.

The role collaborates with Data Owners, Data Stewards, technology, risk, and compliance to ensure accurate, complete and trusted customer data for regulatory and business

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field and professional certifications preferred.
• 5-8 years’ experience in Data Quality, MDM, Data Governance, Data Analytics or related fields.
• Experience implementing data quality rules, controls, thresholds and monitoring.
• Solid exposure to Customer MDM, matching, survivorship and data controls.
• Experience in a regulated environment, preferably financial services.
• Familiar with tools such as Ataccama, Informatica, Purview, SQL, Power BI, Excel, SharePoint.

Responsibilities

• Define and maintain Data Quality rules with Data Owners, Data Stewards and tech teams.
• Monitor data quality results, trends and exceptions across priority domains.
• Identify, log, track and report data quality issues from detection to remediation.
• Conduct root cause analysis to identify process, system or ownership gaps.
• Support Customer MDM implementation, including data validation and survivorship.
• Prepare regular Data Quality and MDM governance reports for forums.
