About the Role

Our client, a global technology solutions provider with a significant presence in Randburg , is seeking a Senior Cybersecurity Engineer specializing in Network Security. This role is crucial for designing, implementing, and maintaining a secure network infrastructure that protects against evolving cyber threats. You will be responsible for network segmentation, firewall management, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and ensuring the overall security of our client's network perimeter. This position offers a fully remote work arrangement, providing the flexibility to work from anywhere while contributing to high-impact security initiatives. Key Responsibilities

Design, deploy, and manage network security solutions, including firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, and WAFs. Implement and maintain network segmentation strategies to limit the impact of security breaches. Monitor network traffic for suspicious activity and respond to security alerts and incidents. Conduct regular vulnerability assessments and penetration tests of the network infrastructure. Develop and enforce network security policies, standards, and procedures. Collaborate with IT operations teams to ensure secure network configurations and deployments. Stay abreast of the latest network security threats, vulnerabilities, and technologies. Lead security investigations and provide technical expertise during incident response efforts. Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation of network security architecture and configurations. Mentor junior security engineers and contribute to team knowledge sharing.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; advanced certifications such as CISSP, CCNP Security, or GIAC certifications are highly preferred. Minimum of 7 years of experience in cybersecurity, with a strong focus on network security engineering. Proven expertise in configuring and managing enterprise-grade firewalls (e.g., Palo Alto, Fortinet, Cisco ASA). Hands-on experience with IDS/IPS, NAC, and other network security monitoring tools. Deep understanding of TCP/IP, routing protocols, and network security principles. Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) for automation of security tasks. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Experience working in a fully remote or distributed team environment is essential. Familiarity with cloud network security concepts (AWS, Azure). Demonstrated ability to lead technical projects and initiatives.
